STgenetics would like to welcome Mark Holmen, of Lanesboro,
Minnesota, as the new Regional Beef Manager covering the states of North
Dakota, South Dakota, Minnesota, Wisconsin and Illinois.
Holmen is a graduate of the University of Minnesota,
St. Paul, where he earned a bachelor of science in Animal Science. Prior to
getting involved in the beef genetics world, Holmen spent three years working
for BCF Technology where he trained and sold portable bovine ultrasound
machines to veterinarians.
Following his time at BCF Technology, Holmen worked
for three years at Accelerated Genetics as a Regional Beef Manager. His most
recent position has been with Semex USA as their U.S. Beef Manager.
Born and raised in Southeast Minnesota on a family
farm, Holmen and his wife, Becky, raise their two sons, Ryan and Carter, both 5th
generation farmers. He and his family run a small cattle operation of 15 purebred
Angus cows and continue to diversify into Red Angus as well. Alongside his
cattle operation, Holmen and his family also own a small group of sows and
raise show pigs to both sell and exhibit.
“As the
industry leader in sexed semen, this opportunity with STgenetics will allow me
to continue my relationships with customers, independent representatives, and
coworkers, and provide elite beef genetics to fellow purebred and commercial
cattleman,” Holmen said. “I look forward to seeing old friends, and meeting new
ones, in my travels and events in the very near future!”
